Explore the history of The New York Historical on the Upper West Side in our latest installation. Inspired by the opening of the Tang Wing for American Democracy on June 18, 2026, this display uses selections from the vast institutional archives at The New York Historical—executive committee minutes, photographs from the 20th and 21st centuries, and an architectural elevation drawn by the architects York and Sawyer—to transport the visitor from the late 19th century to the present. Curated by Nina Nazionale, director of library curatorial affairs & research
Exhibitions at The New York Historical are made possible by the Saunders Trust for American History, the Evelyn & Seymour Neuman Fund, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
