During what Summer Olympic Games did American athlete Jim Thorpe win gold in the pentathlon and decathlon?
1912
Jim Thorpe left the 1912 Stockholm Games as the first Native American to win Olympic gold and one of the greatest athletes of all time. He was later stripped of his medals because he had previously been paid to play minor league baseball—a move that many historians believe was motivated by racism. Thorpe's Olympic titles were finally reinstated posthumously in 2022.
