2nd floor, Patricia D. Klingenstein Library Reading Room
The Patricia D. Klingenstein Library is pleased to present an ongoing rotation of installations in the Pine Tree Foundation of New York display cases in the Reading Room. Please note: the Reading Room is open Saturdays–Thursdays, 11 am – 5 pm, and Fridays, 11 am – 8 pm.
In recognition of the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers, select documents from the Library’s 9/11 Ephemera collection are now on display in the Patricia D. Klingenstein Library. The documents reflect the ways in which life was lived, day-to-day in New York, after the attacks. Governmental agencies, charities, and volunteers from around the country leapt into action to provide information and assistance to those directly affected by 9/11. The MTA kept subway riders apprised of which subway lines were running. New government agencies and charities were created to address previously inconceivable needs, like the post-traumatic stress suffered by those who were compelled to keep digging through the rubble at Ground Zero, despite knowing that no bodies were going to be found. Handmade cards sent from children across the country to firefighters, police, and rescue and recovery workers are also on display.
