It seems strange to call a venue this centrally located and well known a "hidden gem," but that's how we felt about The New York Historical. We had the ceremony and reception of our dreams here—in an incredible setting that felt not only historically significant but also once-in-a-lifetime gorgeous. We celebrated our love surrounded by history and beauty—from the stained glass window showing Henry Hudson's arrival in New York City to the stunning, large-form Picasso masterpiece that was the focal point of our dinner setup to the galaxy of Tiffany lamps that formed the setting for cocktail hour. This was an extraordinary place for the celebration of our lifetimes. On top of it all, Karen, Heather, Oona and the rest of the team were so easy to work with and actually made a stressful process a lot of fun! Finally: incredible food. Guests are still telling us weeks later how great the food was!

We had to reschedule our entire wedding weekend at the last minute. When we found The New York Historical, it was a dream come true, and they made it as easy as we could possibly imagine. Beautiful facilities aside—which are second to none—the staff and administration are nothing but top class. They were flexible to our every need.
The Klingenstein Library and the Dexter Hall were both magnificent. Beautiful on their own, when combined, they create the perfect venue for a party. Perhaps what is most astonishing about the rooms is how beautiful they are on their own, but also how well flowers and lighting accompany the architectural features. Many of the venues in New York are a "blank canvas". The New York Historical allows you to choose—display its beauty without pomp and frill or completely deck it out in flowers and lights. It's a breath of fresh air and a refreshing change of pace from the glass boxes at so many other locations.
We cannot wait to come back to relive our perfect night and revisit the history of our great city!

We knew we would be getting married in Manhattan but were worried about finding a place that best represented our love for each other and the place we call home. We viewed countless spaces, including other museums, gardens, and hotels, but they all seemed too big or too small, too industrial or too flashy. Then we toured The New York Historical. From the very beginning, Karen and her team went above and beyond to help us visualize what our wedding could be.
The team at The New York Historical worked seamlessly with our vendors and wedding planner to ensure our planning process was as stress-free as possible. Most importantly, they helped us find moments of levity and joy in the event planning process.
Our wedding day was extravagant, unique, loud, beautiful, bold, and intimate. It was everything that we love about this city and each other. The New York Historical will always hold a special place in our hearts and so will the incredible event team that created the best day of our lives.

We had a wonderful wedding at The New York Historical. There were multiple spaces that guests could move through during the night and be fully immersed in the museum. Each space was a special experience and felt different. The flow was well coordinated and the guests got to see exhibitions from the lobby to the Tiffany lamps to the art in Dexter Hall.
The spaces were all very beautiful—the library and Tiffany gallery needed very little addition and are malleable to different types of events. Plenty of space yet easy to contain the guests to make it feel festive. We loved having the Skylight Gallery for the bridal party. Bathrooms were accessible easily. All around perfect!
Karen, Heather, and the entire event staff really shepherded us into success. They were not only helpful but patient and accommodating, and brought great, positive energy before and on the day. They really listened to what we were trying to achieve and made it possible.
