Blueprints of Resistance: Lessons from LGBTQ+ Activism Past and Present

Event Details:
What lessons can we learn from the history of HIV/AIDS activism among the LGBTQ+ community? Journalist and filmmaker David France is joined by Ivy Kwan Arce, Board President of Treatment Action Group (TAG), and Kimberleigh Joy Smith, executive vice president of public policy and advocacy at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, for this timely discussion about the advocacy, community-building, and resistance that define the story of the AIDS pandemic. They'll celebrate the courage and character of LGBTQ+ heroes as well as reflect on what the country as a whole can learn from their storied legacy of activism.
Ivy Kwan Arce is the Board President of Treatment Action Group (TAG) and Chair of the Arts & Culture Committee. Kimberleigh Joy Smith is executive vice president of public policy and advocacy at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center. David France (moderator) is an award-winning American investigative reporter, author, and Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker behind How to Survive a Plague (2012).
