Student Historian Internship Program
Student Historian Internship Program
Internships for high school students entering grades 10, 11, or 12
Student Historians are high school-aged interns who use the resources of The New York Historical to conduct in-depth research and share their scholarship through the production of creative digital projects that serve as public educational resources. Interns meet with professional staff to learn about the museum, library, digital humanities, and history fields; and work collaboratively with fellow students to develop their historical thinking, communication, and digital media skills. The program involves substantial research and writing, allowing interns to deepen their understanding of American history and the digital humanities through academically rigorous, hands-on work. The historical theme of the internship is Our Composite Nation: Frederick Douglass’ America.
This program is open to high school students entering grades 10, 11, or 12 who live in and attend school in the New York city metro area (includes the five boroughs of New York City, as well as areas of New York State, Connecticut, and New Jersey).
All interns will receive a $700 stipend upon successful completion of the internship.
The internship takes place in person at The New York Historical.
