Boss Lincoln: The Partisan Life of Abraham Lincoln
Non-Fiction at the Bryant Park Reading Room

Event Details:
Our popular outdoor lecture series is back! The New York Historical is thrilled to once again partner with the Bryant Park Reading Room to present a series of free programs in the park.
Considering the saint-like reverence often paid to Abraham Lincoln—from the image of him as a rail-splitting youth to the powerful figure he cut by abolishing slavery and uniting a nation torn apart—it can be easy to forget that he was, first and foremost, a politician. Author Matthew Pinsker presents a new angle on “Boss Lincoln”: shrewd, sometimes intimidating, and very adept at partisan navigation, all of which served him very well in his political pursuits.
Matthew Pinsker is the Pohanka Chair in American Civil War History and director of the House Divided Project at Dickinson College. He is also the author of Boss Lincoln: The Partisan Life of Abraham Lincoln.
This program is produced in partnership with the Bryant Park Corporation.
Location:
This program will be held at the outdoor Reading Room in Bryant Park. The Reading Room is located on the 42nd Street side of the park between 5th and 6th Avenues. Look for the yellow and white umbrellas.
