This exhibition exudes New York, spotlighting New York-centric movements like Abstract Expressionism, Pop, the Ashcan School, and graffiti art, with over 50 works by artists including Thomas Hart Benton, Fritz Scholder, Keith Haring, Yvonne Jacquette, Charles Sheeler, and Saul Steinberg, among others. It tells the story of a place at once enthralling, mystifying, and inspiring, from its bustling harbors to its Harlem diners, Village speakeasies, sleek skyscrapers, and gritty streetscapes.
Wendy Nālani E. Ikemoto, Ph.D., is Vice President and Chief Curator at The New York Historical, where she has curated such exhibitions as Nature, Crisis, Consequence; Monuments: Commemoration and Controversy; and the award-winning Scenes of New York City: The Elie and Sarah Hirschfeld Collection.
*Gallery and walking tours are limited to 20 guests per tour.
