Subway: Take the B (weekdays only) or C to 81st Street. We're also a 12-minute walk from the 72nd Street station for the 1, 2, and 3 trains at Broadway at 72nd Street. For a complete subway map, visit the MTA website.

Please note: The 81st Street subway station is  not wheelchair accessible. The closest accessible subway station is the 72nd Street station.

Bus: The M79 bus travels east/west on West 79th Street across Central Park, with a nearby stop on West 81st Street. Other buses also stop at or nearby, including the M7, M10, M11, M86, and M104 buses. For complete bus information, visit the MTA website.

There is a limited amount of street parking on 77th Street, 76th Street and Central Park West.

Our popular outdoor lecture series is back! The New York Historical is thrilled to once again partner with the Bryant Park Reading Room to present a series of free programs in the park.

Anti-fascist (or “antifa”) movements came to prominence during the first Trump administration in response to white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups gaining support across the country and were quickly labeled as “extremist” by both sides of the political spectrum. Join journalist Christopher Mathias for a deep dive into antifa and the often dangerous work these underground networks undertake to attempt to stop fascism in the United States.

Christopher Mathias is a journalist, former senior reporter at HuffPost, and author of How to Catch a Fascist: The Fight to Expose the Radical Right.

This program is produced in partnership with the Bryant Park Corporation. 

This program will be held at the outdoor Reading Room in Bryant Park. The Reading Room is located on the 42nd Street side of the park between 5th and 6th Avenues. Look for the yellow and white umbrellas.
