Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump
History with David M. Rubenstein

Event Details:
Donald Trump was never a traditional politician, but in the relatively short span of his second term, he has pushed the boundaries of the presidency more than any leader before him. In this conversation with David M. Rubenstein, journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, who have covered Trump more closely than perhaps anyone else, examine the peeling away of governmental constraints that have allowed Trump to nearly unilaterally launch a new war in the Middle East, send immigration agents into deadly clashes with protestors, and utilize the Justice Department as a tool of political retribution—a man, in short, who has fundamentally changed the office he holds and Americans’ understanding of the meaning of power.
Maggie Haberman is a bestselling author and Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The New York Times reporting on President Trump. Jonathan Swan is a political reporter at The New York Times whose 2020 interview of President Trump won an Emmy Award. They are co-authors of Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump.
David M. Rubenstein (moderator), co-founder and co-chairman of the Carlyle Group, is the host of History with David Rubenstein on PBS and the author of the upcoming Inside The Owner’s Box: Conversations on Power and Leadership in Sports, among other books.
