The Second Toughest Job in the World: A History of New York City Mayors, 1700-1950
- Wednesday, October 30, 2024
- Sold Out
- Livestream still available: $30 (Members $20)
Event Details:
While Washington, DC, serves as capital to the nation and home to the American president, New York City is often considered to be the nation's financial, fashion, real estate, and cultural capital. Serving at the helm, our mayors have wielded significant power not only over the city, but across these sectors in the nation at large. The character and influence of these leaders, however, has been as diverse and unique as the city itself. With one hundred and ten mayors over the course of the city's history, historian Kevin Draper takes a look at the stories of mayors who have left a lasting legacy in the city and beyond, but also at those whose stories have been lost to time.
Kevin Draper is a New York City historian, co-founder of the company New York Historical Tours, and historical consultant for various news and media outlets.

The Robert H. Smith Auditorium at the New-York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West, New York, NY 10024
