1st floor, Richard Gilder and Lois Chiles Hall
This striking work captures a view from the World Trade Center towers. Jacquette mixes perspectives from the 24th and 38th floors of the North Tower to create a fragmented vision of Cass Gilbert’s West Street Building and a modern high-rise at center.
The painting was produced as part of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s World Views program, which until the attacks of September 11, 2001, provided artists with studio space in the Twin Towers.
Exhibitions at The New York Historical are made possible by the Saunders Trust for American History, the Evelyn & Seymour Neuman Fund, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
